WORLD SOCIETY OF THE
ABDOMINAL COMPARTMENT SYNDROME

Clinical Trials Working Group

The World Society of the Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (WSACS) was founded in 2004 with the intent to bring together physicians, nurses and other health workers who have an interest in the diagnosis, management, and/or treatment of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS). The mission of the WSACS is to promote research, foster education, and improve the survival of patients with IAH/ACS. The Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG) was created to stimulate, facilitate and support clinical and animal research that will increase knowledge and ultimately improve outcome in patients with IAH/ACS.

The CTWG welcomes the submission of study protocols from individual researchers and research groups that investigate the pathophysiology, monitoring, and treatment of IAH/ACS. Research guidelines for study protocol construction, study conduct, statistical analysis and data reporting, based upon the consensus definitions and recommendations put forth by the WSACS, are available on the "Recommendations for Research" page. "Study protocol", "Case Report Form", and "Patient Consent for Research" templates are also available.

If you are interested in being kept informed of new research trial opportunities, please complete the CTWG Investigator Interest Form.

Researchers may submit IAH/ACS clinical trial proposals for posting on this page. For those interested in participating in the various trials listed, please contact the Primary Investigator listed for each trial.

The CTWG welcomes comments, questions, and suggestions. To contact the CTWG, email the CTWG chairman Dr. Jan DeWaele.
